My New Path

As of last Thursday, I no longer work at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club. I was not selected to be the new Seasonal Assistant Professional, I was told I was over-qualified. They wanted someone with no experience, that way they would not have to give him any responsibilities and there would be no worries when they released him in the fall. I was also told that I was over-qualified to work in the shop also...

I was a little bit shocked to hear that I wouldn't be coming back, there is no reason for it, I did nothing wrong. Most people I talked to say that since there is a whole bunch of managerial restructuring going on over there, that having a person who can do everything and gets paid next to nothing, is dangerous to the current high paid guys over there. By having guys there that are new and not that ambitious, they have job security. So I feel that they let me go to protect there jobs a little bit.

Anyways I am still ina good spot. I will be working more with Nike Golf as a Demo Technician. And I will work one to two days a week at Golf Galaxy to keep my playing privileges at the Reserve. The Nike gig is easier, more fun, and I get paid a lot more. It also opens up quite a few more roads.

Grades Are Posted

After a winter term that seemed like I could never get myself to study or to retain any information, I somehow managed to pull off a 4.0! It is the first time since transferring to PSU that I have done that while having a full load of classes, and I had my senior project.

Right now I am so proud of myself for pulling this off!

Spring Break / Birthday Fun

Wow finally spring break. Seemed like winter term was never going to end. I have nothing to do all week and it makes me very happy. And next week I start my last term in my undergraduate collegiate career!

My birthday was fun. We went up to Seattle to our friend Megan's house and had a good party. We had a ton of alcohol there for the Iron Bartender.

Hooray for Spring

As of about 10:20 this morning it officially became springtime. I am so excited for spring and summer to get here. I just want to get outside and do things....

I want to run in a 5k this summer, hopefully do a triathalon in the late summer, and obviously play in some golf tournaments ( I am going to try and qualify for a Nationwide Tour event this fall).

I Want a Dog

So I got a picture sent to me of my neices' new puppy. Wow what a cute little puppy. I am hoping that after I graduate this June, that we will be home enough so that we can get a puppy. I would love to get a chocolate lab...

More Photo Fun

Here is an awesome panoramic shot of Paris by night. It completes a full 360 degree rotation, and is just incredible to look at. Have fun waiting if you are not on a broadband connection (mom).

Senior Project Prototypes

Last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I ended up spending close to 36 hours in the Tektronics Lab at school building and debugging our Senior Project Prototypes for our presentation on Monday. Because the person who was suppose to write the code and test the microcontroller in our design had not done completed their work, we were way behind! We didn't even have a mock-up complete until Friday night, this should have been done at least a weeks ago... But because we had to wait for the code, we couldn't test the mock-up to see if it was working properly. It took us all day Saturday to get a PC Protoboard together and working properly. And then we spent close to 14 hours on Sunday building the last 4 Protoboards, connecting their Infrared emitters and detectors, mounting them in the display boxes, and finally debugging any errors and make sure that they all communicate with each other.

I was exhausted, but at least Monday morning 4 of them worked and we got the good job nod from OMSI.

I am a Nike Demo Tech

I talked to Brent today and got all the info on my new job. Looks like I won't be a Nike Employee... I'll be an independent contractor for Nike. I will get my own demo clubs, which will consist of a bag of Sasquatch drivers and fairway woods, a bag of hybrids, a bag of irons, and a bag of putters and wedges. Then I will also have a Nike tent and table set-up. I should be getting my gear in a couple weeks. :D
