I finally decided that I should sign up for FlexCar today. With being a Demo Tech for Nike Golf, I will have to be able to drive around to different golf courses now-and-then with a bit of equipment. If you don't know about FlexCar, it's fairly cool. When you join, it's kind of like renting a car. Except that all you have to do is pick any of the many locations around Portland, call or email when you want the car, go to where the car is parked, swipe your pass key, and then drive off.

All your gas and insurance is pre-paid with your membership. You just pay for the time that you use the car. For me only needing a car a couple times a month, this should come very handy. Plus since it will be work related, I can write it all off...!

Golf Channel Big Break V

So I was watching the first episode of the Big Break the other day when as a late addition they brought on a girl that looked really familiar to me. I couldn't place her but she looked familiar to me.

Her name is Julie Wells, and I just could not place her... Then I was reminded the other day that she worked under Steve at the Reserve! I don't really remember her because it was just my first few months and there was so many new people for me to get to know.

I do remember her now that I have thought about it for a while. I even had lunch with her once and played a couple holes with her. Man when I get old I won't remember anything!!!

Anyways watch Big Break its a good little reality show that all comes down to how you play the game. And remember to root for Julie!

Already Working

As I get closer and closer to graduating I continue to think of my future outside of college life (yay). I think about future careers and am really excited about one option, golf engineering.

Well I came across a neat concept the other day, a material that is soft and flexible but when struck hard the molecules bonds stregthen. This is what the report states:

Under normal conditions the molecules within the material are weakly bound and can move past each with ease, making the material flexible. But the shock of sudden deformation causes the chemical bonds to strengthen and the moving molecules to lock, turning the material into a more solid, protective shield.

Now think about this on the cover of a golf ball. This is what they have been trying to do for years with different layers of the golf ball getting progressively harder as you get to the core. So the cover feels soft on short shots, but the ball feels firm on long shots. This new material (if not already used) could be perfect for the golf ball. Maybe I should apply for a patent....

Photo Panoramics

I have always wanted some software to do this that was easy to use. I have tried a few different ones and all have been a little bit complicated. But I finally found one that really rocks, its called Autostitch. All you do is start it up, select the photos to do the panoramic, and then select go. And a few minutes later you get a great panoramic shot (after a little cropping). Here is one from Perth that Karen and I took and we always wanted to be made into a Panoramic.

Google Chat

Some of you are not allowed to install software on your computers at work. So you spend most of the day just emailing back and forth conversations. Well there have been ways to use an IM through your browser before... But now Google has taken it to the next level.

Google will now be doing Google Talk inside their GMail homepage, think their calling it Google Chat. So you will be able to use an IM from your work computer without having to install any software.

I know Karen, Sol, and Michelle could put this to good use....
